So here it is, my Reviewing of Jakarta Comic-Con 2015. My first thought is that the event planner needs to put a big tent for the ticket line, I burnt my skin waiting in line to buy the ticket on the spot, like literally, my arms, neck and face are red right now and by the way, the ticket is cheap as hell, it's only IDR 95.000 or less than 10 dollars in which they will jack up the price for next year's event. I am sure of it.
Entering the venue, I immediately searched for Puput who's already there, found her very fast, she was waiting in line to take a picture on the Iron Throne with her family, so, like the good friend I am, I decided to join her and her family and cut in line...Puput and I left the queue for a bit and checked out the whole venue filled with cosplayers but the booths aren't as appealing enough and that is the first issue I have with this event, aside from taking pictures with some Walkers, Darth Vader and a Stormtroopers and sitting for the first time on the Iron Throne, there aren't much to see in this year's Comic-Con. I am not being a snob and no disrespect for the other participants in this Comic-Con but the longest line I saw in this venue were Game of Thrones and Star Wars, other than that, we don't even bat an eyelash, there were some panels but they feel more like more like a movie promotion rather than a discussion panel and the guest star was only Kelly Hu and again, I mean no disrespect to Ms. Kelly Hu but when I heard that Comic-Con is coming to town and featuring the likes of Game of Thrones and Walking Dead, I was hoping that one of the stars of the shows would come as well, no need to bring some big names to come, like for instance, I wouldn't mind if King Joffrey could come to Jakarta or maybe Tyrese in the Walking Dead booth or for the comic fans, Bendis or Mark Millar could come.
I know that this is their first year and I applaud the event planner's success, because the animosity for Jakarta Comic-Con is big and ti showed from the enthusiasm of the participants and the crowd, especially from the cosplayers but I kinda get the feeling that most of the participants are more into their merchandise sales and where is the vintage comic book booth? I was hoping to buy some rare comics to collect.
My rating for the first ever Comic-Con in Jakarta is 7 out 10, Not Bad but Not Good either. I hope next year will be better.
