When Rafael was first featured in 2008, I thought this kid was excellent, even Sir Alex thought so too. Rafael displays passion on the field, his tackles were not clean at times but he proved to the world that he is a wonderful full-back who can run back and forth to defend and attack without falter not like Antonio Valencia who can't even defend, even he's getting worst with his crossing as of late. I just don't understand why Louis Van Gaal decided to let this man go, I was disappointed to see Fabio left a couple of seasons ago but Fabio had to leave because at that time Patrice Evra was in his prime, so there is no way Fabio could ever compete but for Rafael to leave, it's just devastating to me. Given the chance, I think Rafael and Darmian could make United's right side a wall to every opponent instead of Darmian and Valencia.
Yes, Rafael is known to battle with inconsistency and injuries throughout his 7-year stint in the red color of Manchester but that doesn't certified his booting out of Old Trafford, I mean. LVG gave Ashley Young a chance and Young delivered, why can't he gave Rafael or even Danny Welbeck, or Shinji Kagawa or even Chicharito a chance? I really want to see Rafael succeed in United, I really do, he could've been United greatest right back after Gary Neville but sometime the best way to further your career is to move away.
So long Rafael da Silva, you will be sorely miss! To me, you are a legend. To me, you are that fearsome kid who fought Tevez who looks like a gangster with that scar on his face. To me, you will always be a Red Devil, good luck on your journey at Lyon, know that you will always have place in the hearts of United fans unlike some weasel who just spend one year in United and that cowardly walks away to PSG.
