Can he be killed? Is Tom Cruise a god by any chance? It's like this film...no, the whole entire Mission: Impossible franchise is a showcase of Tom Cruise's immortality and when you think of it, it's not just in Mission: Impossible, Tom Cruise can make you feel inadequate as a man, just look at his action filmography over the years, Edge of Tomorrow was awesome, Oblivion was kind of a dump but good action nevertheless and Jack Reacher was cool as fuck, all of those movies are a way to say FUCK YOU, I'm Tom Fucking Cruise to Daniel Craig, to Henry Cavill, to Matt Damon and all of those guys who try to do a better spy movie than him. I don't really like Tom Cruise because I think he's crazy, you know like crazy cuckoo kind of person but he's a good actor (I'm just saying that because I'm scared that Tom Cruise will show up in my house and slap me with some Scientology bullshit) but I have to admit that the stunts on this movie are ridiculously dangerous and the more impressive, Tom Cruise did them all by himself, just take a moment to soak that information in...This adrenaline junkie takes all of the competitions and shit them sideways, the guy is 53 years old and he looks better than me, for god's sakes...oh shit, I mean, for Scientology's sake, is he still doing Scientology? But anyway, enough of me man-crushing over Tom Cruise (yes, I have to say his full name) and get on with The Spoilering of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
THE IMPOSSIBLE PLOT
The movie starts with IMF or the Impossible Mission Force (I seriously didn't know What IMF Stands for until this movie) being disbanded and absorbed by CIA led by Director Hunley or you can call him Alec Baldwin, but since Ethan is on a mission at that point to discover and expose a terrorist syndicate named The Syndicate, Ethan ultimately goes rogue, just like the previous four Mission: Impossibles, think about it, the plots for every Mission: Impossible movies are about Ethan Hunt going rogue (that's the most important part) and chasing arms dealer/terrorist and always ended up winning and saving the world. So, to continue, Ethan recruits Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and both of them travel to Vienna to an opera because Ethan believes that the leader of The Syndicate, Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) will be there to kill the Chancellor of Austria as a part of his government toppling scheme but Ethan, Benji and Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) stopped it (at first) and decided to team up to tackle Lane together in Morocco and London; I won't ruin the whole entire movie and give you the details of the movie but The Syndicate is the brainchild of MI-6 that gone rogue (again) and decided to be a terrorist group instead and eventually, Lane gets captured by Ethan and his team.
THE KINDA MAKES SENSE ACTION
The whole entirety of the movie does make sense but again, I am struggling with how great Ethan Hunt is in this movie, I mean nobody can be that untouchable right? There is no vulnerable in Ethan Hunt's vocabulary, I mean James Bond was injured and presumed dead at one point in Skyfall but Tom Cruise, I mean, Ethan Hunt is the superior spy, he went from being drowned to death to driving a BMW M4 in a high-speed chase with precision in mere seconds, the human brain cannot withstand that amount of time being depraved of oxygen and function normally just few minutes after it. Tom Cruise just had to have a motorcycle in every of his movies, Ilsa could've ran away with a civilian car, drove casually and escaped undetected with her team but no, no, they have superbikes waiting for her but it led to an awesome chasing scene so I will scrap off that flaw just a bit. With this movie you can replace Steven Seagal with Tom Cruise as the action hero who never gets seriously injured in a movie, seriously just check it out, Ethan Hunt went from drowning to being upside down in a wrecked BMW to being in a bike crash in one continuous scene, one FUCKING scene without any of his bones sticking out, without damages to his pretty face and without any brain trauma or internal injury whatsoever...oh and one more interesting thing discussed by one of my favorite channels on Youtube, Screen Junkies, you can watch all of the Mission: Impossible movies and confirm it but Tom Cruise always running in this franchise, like a long shot of him just running.
THE CONCLUSION
Other than those two nitpickings, I have no quarrel with this movie. It is an enjoyable action movie from start to finish, a lot of action cliches but I moved past that immediately with Tom Cruise's insane stuntmen-less action but I hope that this will be the last Mission: Impossible, at least for Tom Cruise because I really can't picture Tom Cruise in his 60s or 70s still playing Ethan Hunt, although he'll still look more awesome than me or anyone at that point.
