Number one or nummer eins, Mats Julian Hummels is a part of the German team who won the 2014 FIFA World Cup which makes him a BIG NAME SIGNING Manchester United so desperately need and not only just that, I watched a couple of Youtube videos, you know, scouting Mats Hummels while he's in action and I have to say this, he is without a doubt the best defender in the world today, I've been dreaming of Mats Hummels joining United ever since Borussia Dortmund's rise to stardom with their young spirited side. When United signed Shinji Kagawa, a part of me was excited and also asking, "why can't we just sign Hummels instead?", year after year, Mats has been proving that he got the chops to be a part of the biggest club in the world and that is Manchester United. The man is not without his flaws, Hummels is quite slow and Lionel Messi proved that at the 2014 World Cup Final when he outran Hummels several times but what Hummels lacks in pace he makes it up with his unbelievable reading of the game. Case in point, his astounding goal-line header save against Hoffenheim in the 14/15 season with Dortmund, I mean, what can I say about that save, I've been watching that clip on Youtube over and over again and I just can't figured out how he can possibly know to go there. Let me just paint a picture for you guys, Hoffenheim is gearing up for a free kick just outside the penalty box, every Dortmund players is forming a barricade just a few steps from Mitch Langerak's goal that includes the Captain, Mats Hummels positioned on the far right of the barricade, just as the Hoffenheim player takes the kick, out of pure instinct and just mili-seconds, Mats runs back, leaves the barricade and heads the ball off the pitch, almost makes it into the top right side of the goal, I mean Langerak just stood there, watching as the big Hummels just swung his head preventing the ball to get inside the net, seriously, HOW?! Until this day, I just couldn't figured out his thought process to just abandon the barricade and knowing where the ball is headed, oh and that wasn't the only one, three times, Mats Hummels saved Dortmund with his goal-line, nick of the time, patented Mats-ing this season, United needs this trait out of a defender, the ability to read where the ball is going and he is also a perfect leader for United backline.
Number two or numero dos, Nicolas Hernan Gonzalo Otamendi's rise to stardom this season is well documented, his absolute peach of a tackle against none other than Lionel Messi, his fiery demeanor are the qualifications for an United central defender. When I watched his videos, he immediately reminded me of Nemanja Vidic, a true battler, Otamendi isn't afraid to do a lunging tackle and most of his tackles are clean too, that my friend is impressive and one other thing, he looks fuckin' badass with that beard, I mean, hell, United has cornucopia of players with unique hairs and facial hairs, case in point, Fellaini with his giant afro, Blind is currently sporting a manbun, the new recruit, Memphis Depay is rocking a sweet ass Mutton Chops and who could forget the captain himself, hair-transplant Wayne, add the fearsome beard of Otamendi and we're golden here.
To solidify my point, these two players can be United's hard backbone alongside Morgan Schneiderlin. For months now, I've been fantasizing about Otamendi and Hummels playing side by side in United's new adidas armor, behind them, the ever agile, David De Gea, can you imagine how brilliant that partnership would be, like I've been saying all this time, Hummels and Otamendi can be United's new Rio and Vida, Nico and Matty, the new number 15 and 23 which consequently the numbers have been unoccupied, a sign??
