In the new sage, Spectre - again, James will be sporting an Aston Martin but this new DB is one of a kind, the likes that you never see before because this Aston Martin, codename DB10 is made specifically for the movie, Spectre and it is a beaut, beyond comprehension. Yes, Aston Martin was asked to build a one-off special car for the movie and the designer of the car, Marek Reichman has made a near-perfect Aston Martin and why did I call it near-perfect? Because for years we've been treated to some of the most beautiful car series from Aston Martin - Vantage, Vanquish, DB9, DBS and a whole lot more but here's the thing and I think you all can agree with me, the ratio between the front bonet and the back is very one sided, don't you think? Aston Martin like putting V12 and V8 engines in their cars and they put them in the front, so most of the time, you will see a very long front design against the back although it is not as un-proportionate as Ferrari F12, that thing is very confusing, long on the front, so short on the back but since Aston Martin always try to make the front and back even, they sometimes make the back design long too to even things out, making their cars very lengthy and don't forget a little bit bulky, like Vanquish for instance, I very much like that car but when you see the the front side and sink in that front grill, you can't help but to think that this car is long and girthy and well sometimes that's a good thing when it comes to something else but for a car...I beg to differ.
However, this DB10...oh my, it's slick, it's soemwhat smaller than the other Aston Martin and that back design, I'm pretty sure the futuristic back bumper and the taillights beat Huracan's back design in a long shot and that color, that is the perfect color for James Bond, although I would argue that it could've been a dark grey because that color is more elegant and just scream 007. Because it is a special movie car and the movie is not out yet, I couldn't get the specs of the car but I do know that the DB10 has 4.7 liter V8 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission but for the horsepower, it is still a secret but with a with 0-60 within 4 seconds I would guess that the horsepower isn't more than 500bhp.
Now the flaws of DB10 that made it near-perfect and not absolutely perfect - the front grill, yes, I know that the DB10 is an homage to DB5, the first ever Aston Martin used for the the James Bond movie, so the iconic Aston Martin grill has to be there but the problem is just that one grill and not accompanied by side grills and that made the front too simple and slightly un-appealing to some and the headlights, a look bit like Maserati Granturismo S, isn't it? and I do really think that that the mufflers should be four instead of two. Other than that, I have no quarrel with this car, none whatsoever...except that this car won't go into mass production for the public consumption and that's quite a bummer but the good news is that Aston Martin will model all of their future cars on DB10, so think of DB10 as a concept car for future models.
I can't wait to see Spectre, when most people go to the movies to see Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz in action, I will be waiting for DB10 going toe to toe with the Jaguar C-X75 because I truly believe that this car is the true star of the upcoming movie. Good job, Aston Martin. A very good job!
