So, by that point alone, I truly believe that Warung Turki by Turkuaz will knock me out of my socks and it did, superbly. My original thought when entering this 3-story building is "this is different", Warung Turki by Turkuaz design is more modern than its parent, Turkuaz; I love their entire restaurant design, a very modern and contemporary take but still incorporating that Turkish essence, the one thing that still feels the same is that they still fill the place with authentic Turkish accessories which in my opinion, a celebration of tradition perfectly placed in glass walls. The third floor really takes the cake though, they have this skylight which will be perfect on daylight, drinking tea and smoking Shisha but when night time comes, the colorful Turkish lighting give us a warm, embracing feel that makes us do not want to leave, seriously, just looking at the lighting can mesmerize you for hours - the design of the restaurant is perfect, it's elegant and electric all at the same time, perfect for anyone to enjoy.
Now on to the food, there were five of us dining that night but we didn't know what to order and since one of us do not eat lamb so we ordered almost the same dish for everyone, the four of us ordered the Et Doner which is a lamb kebab with what the restaurant called a onion salad, a sumack onion salad and one ordered Tavuk Doner, simply the same a Et Doner but with chicken instead of lamb. I ate the Et Doner and it was sublime, the first thing I tasted wasn't the lamb but the onion, I love onion and this kebab gives you a fresh taste of onion, it was so good and the bread, it wasn't too dry and too wet either, I didn't feel any crunchy-ness and it didn't too hard to cut it either and the lamb, it was good, it wasn't as good as the Lamb Shank I tried in Turkuaz but it did the job, I was literally full when I ingested like half of the kebab and one other thing, with every plate of Et or Tavuk Doner, you'll get a side dish of vegetables, I'm not a big fan of vegetables but my lord, the tomatoes, fresh as can be, the one thing that I love about this restaurant and Turkuaz is that they keep everything fresh and I love them for it.
We did order a Falafil (blended chickpeas with vegetables) but I didn't care for it too much since I am not a veggie person but the tahini garlic sauce on top of the Falafil was very good that we ordered a bowl for our Doners and also a little plate of Turkish chili which everyone thought was too spicy but I didn't find it that spicy. And as for dessert, I had my eyes on the Baklava from the get go so we ordered one plate with three pieces on it, Almond, Walnut and Pistachio. The Pistachio and Almond did their jobs like we all know they would, the Almond was a little bit too sweet but the Walnut Baklava was the winner of the night, for sure, we all tasted the nut but it wasn't too sweet either, the blend was perfect to cap off a wonderful night at Turkey or in this case we went to Turkey by our tongues and stomachs.
Overall score for this new restaurant is 9 out of 10, because nothing is a perfect 10 but this restaurant and its father, Turkuaz can't go wrong in my book. A must try for everyone!
